Belotero Revive Skinbooster is a hyaluronic acid medical device approved by Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS import approval No. 22-105) for the temporary improvement of mild to moderate fine lines around the mouth in adults. A gel of cross-linked hyaluronic acid with glycerol as an auxiliary ingredient is placed in small amounts into the superficial to mid dermis around the mouth with a fine needle. It takes about 15 minutes; the effect is temporary and varies from person to person.
01About Belotero Revive
Belotero Revive Skinbooster (BELOTERO® REVIVE SKINBOOSTER) is a hyaluronic acid product from Merz, and in Korea it is a medical device approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) (import approval No. 22-105, Class 4, product category: biomaterial for tissue restoration, approved May 2022, launched in Korea January 2025). Its approved intended use is to inject cross-linked hyaluronic acid into the superficial to mid dermis to temporarily improve mild to moderate fine lines around the mouth (perioral fine lines) in adults through physical restoration. It is a clear gel of non-animal cross-linked and non-cross-linked sodium hyaluronate (20 mg/mL) with glycerol (17.5 mg/mL) as an auxiliary ingredient, supplied in a 1 mL prefilled syringe. The international instructions for use list a different intended use, but this page follows the Korean approval.
02How it works
This follows the mechanism of action in the MFDS approval documents. Hyaluronic acid placed in the dermis attracts water molecules and creates volume, and that volume physically and temporarily improves fine lines around the mouth.
01 · HYALURONIC ACIDCross-linked sodium hyaluronate injected into the dermis attracts the surrounding water molecules and increases in volume. The approved mechanism of action is that this volume physically supports fine lines around the mouth. Hyaluronic acid is absorbed by the body over time, so the effect is temporary.
02 · GLYCEROLThe approval documents describe glycerol (17.5 mg/mL) as an auxiliary ingredient that helps retain the water molecules attracted by the cross-linked hyaluronic acid.
03 · MICRO-PUNCTUREWith a fine needle (30G), small divided amounts are placed into the superficial to mid dermis where the fine lines around the mouth are. The amount is set for each area within a maximum of 1.0 mL per session, and after injection the area is gently massaged so the gel spreads evenly.

03Compare
"Water-glow injection" (mulgwang) is a general name for treatments that put hyaluronic acid and similar ingredients into the skin, so the ingredients and the approved intended use depend on which product is used. Revive is the name of one product, and its approval in Korea is clearly defined.
04Evidence
This is the clinical trial summary in the MFDS approval documents (precautions for use). It was a multicenter, randomized trial in 170 adults with mild to moderate fine lines around the mouth, conducted from June 2018 to April 2019, and the lines were rated by evaluators who did not know who had been treated.

05Who it fits
Revive is approved in Korea for improving fine lines around the mouth, so we use it with a focus on perioral lines. If sagging contours, volume or texture are also concerns, the doctor sees you in person at consultation and designs a plan that shares the roles with treatments suited to each.
06Process
Even with the same product, the course depends on how deep and how much is injected. That is why the doctor handles everything from consultation to injection in person.
The doctor looks at how pronounced the fine lines around your mouth are and your skin condition, and decides whether Revive is right for you or another option would be better. Medications you take, recent treatments and any filler history are also checked.
After cleansing, numbing cream is applied and left to take effect. The treatment area is thoroughly disinfected.
With a fine needle, small divided amounts are placed into the superficial to mid dermis around the mouth, followed by gentle massage. Injection takes about 15 minutes.
Treatment ends with soothing care, and at your next visit we review your progress and decide together whether an additional treatment is needed.
