CoolSoniq is a lifting treatment that uses the heat of ultrasound to raise the facial line. Like a magnifying glass focusing sunlight onto one spot, it gathers ultrasound deep beneath the skin to tighten the layer that holds up the face. Throughout the treatment it keeps cooling the part that touches your skin, so the surface feels less hot and stinging, and its small pen-like tip reaches carefully into curved areas such as the jawline, double chin and around the eyes.
CoolSoniq is an ultrasound lifting device made by the Korean medical device company ASTERASYS. When ultrasound is gathered at a set depth beneath the skin, a heat point smaller than a grain of rice forms there, and as the body repairs that spot, new collagen is made and loose tissue tightens. This approach is commonly called "HIFU". What makes CoolSoniq different is a small cooling unit inside the handpiece that keeps the surface touching your skin cold throughout (patented technology).
Faces sag for different reasons. With you seated, we first look at whether it is because the skin has thinned, the fat has slipped down, or the layer that holds it up has loosened. If your jawline is the part giving way, CoolSoniq is a good fit.
Like a magnifying glass focusing sunlight
Your face is held up by a thin, tough layer beneath the skin (fascia, SMAS). With age this layer loosens, the jawline blurs and the face shifts downward. CoolSoniq gathers ultrasound at the depth of this layer and creates tiny heat points (60–70°C) close together. Ultrasound only becomes hot where it is gathered, so it barely warms the skin surface it passes through. The heated layer contracts, and as the body repairs those spots, new collagen builds up and the line lifts.

A small cooling unit inside the handpiece keeps cooling the part that touches your skin. When energy is delivered at shallow depths, this stops heat from rising to the skin surface and making it hot and stinging.
1.5 mm for the skin layer, 3.0 mm for the fat layer, 4.5 mm for the fascia. The handpiece is switched area by area, placing heat points close together only at the depth each area needs.
As the body repairs the spots where heat points formed, new collagen and elastic fibers are made and the loosened layer tightens, lifting the line. This happens over 1–3 months.
Cooling technology
Where ultrasound lifting hurts, and where burns occasionally happen, is mostly in the shallow layers close to the skin surface. When a strong heat point is made at a shallow depth, the heat above it can easily spread up to the surface. CoolSoniq cools the surface touching the skin to protect that upper zone, so that enough energy can still be sent to the depth where it is needed.

Cooling reduces the hot feeling on the skin surface; it does not take away pain completely. Areas close to the bone and areas with thin skin are treated at lower strength and with wider spacing.
A different depth for each area
Even on one face, the jawline and the eye area differ in skin thickness and in why they sag. CoolSoniq switches handpieces to aim at a different depth in each area, and its pen-shaped tip glides along the curves of the face.

Tightening right away, the line builds slowly
First you feel the heated tissue tighten right away, then the change from new collagen building up comes over several weeks. The line is usually most defined one to two months after treatment.
As the heated tissue tightens, the line feels neater. There may be mild redness.
The area may be slightly swollen or tender to the touch, settling within a few days. Washing and makeup are fine from the same day.
As new collagen and elastic fibers build up, the jawline and the border under the chin become sharper and the skin feels firmer.
The next session is timed to your age and how quickly you sag. Alternating with Alltite lets the deep fascia and the skin layer be cared for separately.

Lifting lasts longer when each depth is given to the right treatment. CoolSoniq sets the line from deep inside, while the skin's own firmness and texture, and any remaining fat, are each handled by the treatment that fits.
CoolSoniq first tightens the deep fascia to lift the line, then Alltite warms the skin layer to make the skin itself firmer and bouncier. They reach different depths, so they do not overlap. See Alltite lifting
Where there is more fat under the chin, NewCell Fit fat-dissolving injections reduce the volume, and CoolSoniq tightens the loose skin to define the border. Removing fat alone can leave the skin loose, so the two are planned together.
The shallow 1.5 mm depth stimulates the skin layer around the eyes and forehead, and expression lines and texture are finished with Skin Botox or Rejuran. CoolSoniq comes first.

Process
With ultrasound lifting, the result depends on how deep, where, how much, and which areas to leave untreated. This is also where the plan to keep the cheeks from looking hollow is made. That is why the doctor handles everything personally, from consultation to the check after treatment.
With you seated, the doctor checks whether the sagging comes from the skin, the fat or the fascia, and how much cheek volume you have, and reviews your medical history and precautions. There are no consultations by non-medical staff.
Depth and amount are set for each area, such as 4.5 mm for the jawline, 3.0 mm under the chin and 1.5 mm around the eyes, and areas with little cheek fat are left untreated.
After cleansing, numbing cream is applied and the pen-shaped handpiece is moved along the curves of the face. If you feel pain, strength and spacing are adjusted right away.
A lukewarm wash followed by moisturizing and soothing care, then any treatment to combine, such as Alltite, and the timing of the next session are decided.
