DR.NEWCELL  ·  NewCell Collagen Booster

ULTRACOLNot filling in,
but building collagen

A collagen booster that uses PDO microparticles to stimulate your own collagen production. ULTRACOL 100 and 200 differ in PDO content and particle size.

If your cheeks and temples look more hollow than they used to and your nasolabial folds remain even without any expression, it may be a sign that the collagen supporting your skin has decreased. ULTRACOL is a collagen booster that places PDO (polydioxanone) microparticles, which break down slowly in the body, into the lower dermis or subcutaneous layer to encourage your body to make its own collagen. Unlike a filler, which fills right away, changes appear slowly over 4–6 weeks.

01About ULTRACOL

What kind of treatment is ULTRACOL?

ULTRACOL is a PDO-based collagen booster made by the Korean company UltraV. PDO is a biodegradable material used in dissolving threads; here it is made into very small bead-shaped particles and placed by injection. The particles break down slowly, and in the process collagen production in the surrounding tissue is stimulated. Unlike a filler, which fills volume right away, the change comes from collagen your skin makes itself, so it takes time.

02How it works

As PDO breaks down, collagen grows

With age, the collagen that supported the skin decreases, so the cheeks and mouth area look hollow and fine lines remain. Rather than filling the area right away, ULTRACOL helps collagen form again in that place.

PDO microparticles are placed

PDO microparticles are injected into the lower dermis or subcutaneous layer. They are divided along areas with hollowing and fine lines, in the amount decided at your consultation.

Collagen forms around the particles

The body begins making collagen around the particles it has received. With collagen your skin makes itself, change is expected in hollow areas and firmness.

PDO breaks down slowly

PDO is a material that breaks down in the body over time. Change appears slowly over 4–6 weeks, and the degree of change and how long it lasts vary by person.

ULTRACOL 100 and 200: what is the difference?

The number in the product name is the vial size, not a ranking of strength. The PDO content, particle size and injection tool differ. So we choose according to the area being treated, and the two are sometimes used together, divided by area.

04Who it fits

Who ULTRACOL suits, and when another option is better

ULTRACOL is not a treatment that fills right away; it builds up over time. We explain this difference first at your consultation.

A good fit if you

  • have cheeks and temples that look more hollow than they used to
  • have nasolabial folds that remain even without any expression
  • have fine lines and hollowing together over a wide area
  • feel your skin texture has become thin and rough
  • prefer slow, natural change over filling all at once

Consider other options if you

  • need volume right after injection — we also look at Radiesse, which gives volume and collagen stimulation together with its calcium-based ingredient (CaHA).
  • want to fill hollow cheeks over several sessions — we also look at Sculptra, a PLLA treatment received in a series at one-month intervals.
  • still have a lump after a previous injectable treatment — we examine that area first, then decide whether to proceed.

How treatment works at Dr.NewCell

With ULTRACOL, where it is placed and how much is used determine the result. So a doctor personally handles everything one-to-one, from the skin analysis to checking your progress.

01

MARK-VU skin analysis

Before the consultation, we check your skin condition and record the areas with hollowing and fine lines. These records are used to compare changes after treatment.

02

Design in the consultation room

In the consultation room, not the treatment room, we look in the mirror together and decide the amount needed for each area. This is also when we decide between 100 and 200.

03

Anesthesia

We proceed with inhaled sedation (Airnox) and numbing ointment, without sleep sedation. Because you stay awake, you can tell us right away about any area that feels uncomfortable.

04

Treatment · progress check

We limit the number of patients seen per hour and inject while checking the depth in each area. The doctor who treated you continues to check your progress afterward.

06Aftercare

After your treatment

After treatment

  • You can return to daily life right away. For a few days, however, please avoid heavy drinking, saunas or jjimjilbang (Korean spas), hot baths and strenuous exercise.
  • Bruising, swelling, redness or itching may occur at the injection sites, and these usually settle within a few days.
  • Do not massage or press hard on the treated area.
  • If you can feel a lump, do not just put up with it; have it checked at the clinic where you were treated. It helps to write down any change in size and whether it hurts.

Please tell us before treatment

  • If you have had injectable treatments such as fillers or collagen boosters (type and timing, any experience of lumps)
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • If you have inflammation, a wound or a skin condition in the treatment area
  • If you take medication that makes you bruise easily, such as aspirin or anticoagulants
  • If you have had an allergy to numbing ointment or medication

07FAQ

FAQ

What kind of treatment is ULTRACOL?
It is a collagen booster that places PDO (polydioxanone) microparticles, which break down slowly in the body, into the lower dermis or subcutaneous layer to encourage your body to make its own collagen. It is mainly used on the nasolabial folds, cheeks, around the cheekbones, around the mouth and ears, and the facial contour. Unlike a filler, which fills right away, changes appear slowly.
Is ULTRACOL 200 stronger than 100?
No. The number is the vial size, not a ranking of strength. ULTRACOL 100 has 85mg of PDO with a particle size of 20–50μm, and ULTRACOL 200 has 185mg of PDO with a particle size of 50–110μm. We use 200 for wide areas and 100 for small areas, and sometimes divide the two between areas.
Does it hurt? How is anesthesia done?
We proceed with inhaled sedation (Airnox) and numbing ointment, without sleep sedation. Because you stay awake, you can tell us right away if any area feels uncomfortable, and we adjust the pace and area accordingly.
When will I see a change, and how long does it last?
It takes time for the skin to make collagen, so change appears gradually over 4–6 weeks. How long it lasts varies with the area, the amount used and your skin condition, and we explain this together at your consultation.
Can nodules (lumps) form?
With microparticle injectables, nodules can form if particles clump in one place or are placed too shallowly. That is why we inject while checking the depth in each area, and the doctor who treated you continues to check your progress afterward. If you can feel a lump, write down any change in size and whether it hurts, and let us know right away.
How does it differ from Sculptra · Radiesse · Juvelook?
All of them are injections that stimulate collagen production, but their main ingredients differ. ULTRACOL uses PDO, Sculptra uses PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid), Juvelook uses PDLLA and hyaluronic acid, and Radiesse uses CaHA, a calcium-based ingredient. Radiesse also creates volume right after injection, while ULTRACOL and Sculptra build up as time passes. We choose at your consultation according to the area and the pace you want.
